RUSSIAN COMPANIES MAY DEVELOP UP TO 22 OIL FIELDS IN SUDAN

Sudanese Energy and Oil Minister Muhiddin al-Naim Said arrived in Russia on Wednesday, accompanied by oil company executives. According to the Russian Energy Ministry, the head of the department, Sergei Tsivilev, held talks with his Sudanese counterpart, during which the prospects for joint projects were discussed.

“There are 22 separate oil fields in Sudan, more than 70 percent of which are located in safe areas, in the north, east, Khartoum and north of Khartoum, most of them are located in safe areas, and Russian companies have been invited to conduct reconnaissance,” al-Naim Said said.

In Sudan, since April 15, 2023, fighting has been going on between the Rapid Reaction Force commanded by Mohammed Hamdan Daglo and the regular army. The opposing forces in Sudan have been exchanging conflicting statements about successes in combat operations and control of facilities, launching a large-scale information war in the media and social networks.
