RUSSIA HAS PASSED THE UNITED STATES IN GAS SUPPLIES TO THE EUROPEAN UNION

According to the results of the third quarter, Russia has again overtaken Washington in gas supplies to the European Union, according to data from the analytics company Bruegel. Their analysis was carried out by the news agency RIA Novosti.

Thus, in the third quarter, the Russian Federation supplied the European market with 13.3 billion cubic meters of gas, the volume of supplies in the second quarter was 13 billion. The share of Russian enterprises in imports to EU countries increased to 19.4% from 17.2% in April-June. This figure was the highest since the second quarter of 2022.

Russia has been supplying gas mainly through pipelines: supplies through it increased by 8% in the quarter and almost 13% in the year, reaching 8.6 billion cubic meters. LNG exports in the last quarter amounted to 4.7 billion cubic meters.

At the same time, American suppliers reduced the volume of LNG imports by a quarter in the quarter and by a third in the year, to 9.5 billion cubic meters. The leader in gas exports since the third quarter of 2022 is Norway with supplies of 21.7 billion cubic meters in the period July-September.
