RUSSIA HAS BEGUN EXPORTING DIESEL FUEL TO AFGHANISTAN THROUGH IRAN.

The news portal Afghanistan International reported where the delivery is taking place across the Caspian Sea, citing the directorate of Iran's Northern Railways.
"The director of Iran's Northern Railways, Rahman Masoumi, announced that 5,000 tons of Russian diesel fuel will transit through Iran," the statement read.
According to Masoumi, "the operation involves the delivery of Russian diesel fuel to the port of Amirabad in northern Iran, from where it will be transported to Afghanistan by rail."
The official clarified that the first batch of 5,000 tons of diesel fuel had already been shipped this week from the port of Amirabad to Afghanistan.
As Afghanistan International notes, this event occurred a week after the first freight train loaded with Iranian diesel fuel arrived at the Roznaq railway station in Herat province, along the Khaf-Herat railway line.
In early November, the Bakhtar news agency reported the start of construction work on an oil depot at the Roznaq railway station in Herat, to facilitate the unloading, storage, and distribution of petroleum products. The first phase will be designed to store 1,000 tons of diesel fuel and gasoline. According to the agency, the project will protect factories, vehicles, and residents of Herat from potential fuel shortages.
On October 27, Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesperson for Afghanistan's Ministry of Public Works, announced that 1,120 tons of diesel fuel from Iran had arrived in Afghanistan for the first time via the Khaf-Herat railway.
"In recent months, Iran and Afghanistan have expanded rail freight transport, with diesel fuel becoming a key component of the growing cross-border transit network," Afghanistan International notes.
