HUNGARY HAS ANNOUNCED RECORD VOLUME OF GAS FROM RUSSIA.

In 2024, Hungary received a record volume of natural gas from Russia, amounting to 6.2 billion cubic meters, via the Turkish Stream pipeline. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations (MFA) of the European country, Peter Szijjarto. His words are quoted by TASS.

The result achieved was the largest on an annual basis. He noted that Russia is a reliable energy supplier for Hungary. Such supplies are secure and competitive thanks to “reasonable cooperation with the Russian Federation”.

Szijjártó added that cooperation with Russia in the energy sector is beneficial for Hungary. “The security and competitiveness of Hungary’s energy supply are still guaranteed,” the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic summed up.

Previously, Szijjártó said that Hungary is not satisfied with the approach of the European Union (EU) authorities to abandoning Russian energy resources. In his opinion, the EU strategy to minimize dependence on energy supplies from the Russian Federation by 2027 is ideological. Such a plan is irrational and has nothing to do with economic competitiveness and green transition.
