EUROPE HAS FINALLY FOUND A SUBSTITUTE FOR RUSSIAN GAS, BUT THERE'S A NUANCE

European importers of the “blue fuel” intend to sign an agreement with Azerbaijan in the near future on gas supplies to the region.

At the same time, the publication clarifies that natural gas from Azerbaijan will be supplied through the Russian gas pipeline passing through Ukraine, despite the fact that Kiev refused to renew the contract for the supply of energy resources through the territory of the state.

It was clarified that the agreement between the EU and Azerbaijan includes compensation for supplies that Europe currently receives as part of the transit agreement. At the same time, the agreement will include a so-called swap agreement between Azerbaijan and Russia, as Azerbaijan does not have enough export capacity to replace existing supplies.

Ukraine's state energy company Naftogaz declined to comment on the EU's plans to continue receiving gas through Sudzha.
