THE US IMPOSES SANCTIONS ON GAZPROM NEFT AND SURGUTNEFTEGAZ

The US has imposed large-scale sanctions on Russian oil and gas companies and their top managers.

The outgoing Biden administration today announced sweeping sanctions against the Russian oil and energy sector. The sanctions include Gazprom Neft, Surgutneftegaz, Gazprom Shelfproekt, Achimgaz, RusGazAlliance, Frakjet Volga, the Russian-Serbian oil company NIS, of which more than 50% belongs to Gazprom and Gazprom Neft, a joint venture of Norilsk Nickel and Rosatom Polar Lithium, the gas liquefaction plant "NOVATEKA" "Cryogas Vysotsk".

In addition, the list included several people: Deputy Ministers of Energy of the Russian Federation Roman Marshavin and Eduard Sheremettsev, the head of Gazprom Neft Alexander Dyukov, Yusuf Alekperov, the head of Lukoil Vadim Vorobyov, the general director of Tatneft Nail Maganov, the son of the founder of Lukoil and owner of the company Welltech Yusuf Alekperov, CEO of Zarubezhneft Sergei Kudryashov, head of Bashneft Vladimir Chernov.

The US Treasury emphasizes that belonging to the Russian energy sector is a sufficient reason to impose sanctions. At the same time, it should be noted that sanctions do not automatically affect all persons involved in the energy sector of the Russian Federation, the decision on restrictions will be made individually.
