ALIYEV SPOKE ABOUT THE ROLE OF AZERI OIL IN ITALY'S OIL BALANCE

Azeri oil ranks first in Italy's oil balance, while Azerbaijani gas ranks second, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said after a meeting with his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella.

"Since 2020, Azerbaijani gas has been exported to Italy... Today, Azerbaijan exports natural gas through the Southern Gas Corridor to 14 countries. Our cooperation is expanding every year, and today Azerbaijan leads the world in terms of the geographic scope of natural gas exports via pipeline. Azerbaijani oil ranks first in Italy's oil balance, and Azerbaijani gas ranks second," Aliyev said.

He added that Baku is currently cooperating with the European Union on electricity exports.

"A feasibility study for electricity transmission lines is being prepared and is likely to be ready soon. Therefore, the route laid out by TAP and the Southern Gas Corridor now paves the way for larger projects. Electricity, including future supplies from Central Asia along the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan and then to Europe, will further expand the scope of our cooperation," Aliyev emphasized.
