BITCOIN ABOVE $100,000 WITH THE APPOINTMENT OF PAUL ATKINS AS HEAD OF THE SEC

Many had bet on it and now it has really happened. Bitcoin prices have exceeded, for the first time, the psychological threshold of $100,000. The cryptocurrency's ascendant phase began with the victory of Donald Trump. In the past, the president-elect was against cryptocurrencies, but perhaps also because of the very generous donations to his election campaign from the sector, he has changed his mind.

He promises to make the United States the "bitcoin hub", to create a strategic reserve in bitcoin, as well as less severe rules. Since November 5, the main cryptocurrency has risen from $68 to $101, and over the past year, bitcoin has more than doubled in value (+130%). Minor cryptocurrencies, such as Dogecoin, have even quadrupled, while Ether has grown by 67%. The capitalization of the bitcoin system now stands at $2 trillion.

The latest boost came on Wednesday with the appointment of Paul Atkins to head the Securities and Exchange Commission, the authority that oversees the US markets. Unlike his predecessor, Gary Gensler, Atkins, according to analysts, is a supporter of cryptocurrencies and fintech companies.

Well, now it remains to be seen what will really become of Trump's announcements on strategic reserves, etc. As always, in these situations there is the possibility that reality will turn out to be a little less pyrotechnic than expected, with a consequent reduction in prices.
